[...] And then in the middle of all this, I get a call from a headhunter. That job from a while back that sounded so perfect but would have been a conflict of interest during my school board run has become available again because apparently the person they hired when I declined didn’t work out and they’re looking again. And as much as I really don’t like the charter school operation, I wouldn’t be working for that company, and from what I’ve heard, the family that owns the company are really nice people. So, I started thinking, maybe I’m just not meant to run for the school board. Maybe there’s a reason that this opportunity is coming back to me. So, I have an interview scheduled with them on Tuesday, and then, we’ll see what happens. [...]

[...] I’ve been saying that I want to expand my professional horizons in several different areas including bookkeeping part-time, holding an elected office and earning some money from my blog and other web pursuits. I’m still trying to figure out how to do all that, but I did run across an interesting article about “The 10 Secrets to Making Money Blogging” which has some interesting suggestions on drawing readers to a blog. The fact of the matter is that I don’t have very many readers, so if I’m really going to turn this into a money-making venture, that’s going to have to change. The fact of the matter is that I don’t expect the web to start delivering riches to my door, but it would be nice if I could get enough traffic to start bringing a little advertising revenue. It would be nice to have a little extra income so that DH and I could get away once in awhile and to support my eBay addiction. [...]

[...] The job that sounded so perfect? Well, it is, but it also appears to be working for a man whose business I find to be morally repugnant and one that should be outlawed. I am scheduled to interview with this company on Wednesday. But, unless I am mistaken (which I should know for sure Monday morning), I will be forced to cancel the interview. And in the process, throw away a job that’s looking to pay about 10% more than I’m looking for and would offer me a great deal of professional challenge. But in the cold light of day, I just couldn’t work for this company. [...]

[...] So I’m moving into campaigning mode now. Last week, I opened a campaign checking account and took out my petitions. I also closed out my first fundraiser which will probably net me about $60 which isn’t too bad for a first go-round. [...]

[...] He’s out talking to our gardener (and neighbor) who’s going to put in a flower border along our front walk with a rock garden theme. And he’s also going to put in a little rock garden to match (with a big, huge boulder right on the corner) in the corner of our yard next to the hillbilly next door. Yeah!! Hopefully that will eliminate the big pit along his driveway. [...]
